So what just happened? The BRIT AWARDS 2010 came to a close about nine minutes ago, where practically every artist around was nominated..
But the winners all stood out for a reason, and here is my little digest, if you like. KASABIAN took an award for the first time since their debut six years ago, as did LILY ALLEN who caused a stir the last time out remember? She also opened the evening with a pretty standard performance. Nothing special. Her win gave her the victory in the little feud with CHERYL COLE, who was beaten in British Single by JLS. They took away two trophies having performed BEAT AGAIN, which I still find a really amateur song. Anyways, FLORENCE & THE MACHINE took the 'biggest' prize of the evening with Best Album, although I personally think that something like Best Artist is a much better prize, no? Apparently not.. She did a duet with fellow Brit DIZZEE RASCAL who also got himself an award. Another rapper JAY-Z took International Male, before wowing the crowd along side Alicia Keys. Other awards included ELLIE GOULDING, one to look out for in the coming year most definitely, the SPICE GIRLS and OASIS, whose Brit Award was thrown into the audience by Liam.. what an ass. Disrepectful to the max. ROBBIE WILLIAMS closed the evening, having won the Lifetime Award, with a super, flawless performance. Yes he's had his troubles, yes he's not the greatest singer, but trust me can he entertain. He was given about 10-15 minutes of stage time to dish out all of his best hits and it was really good.
Now I've saved this one for last, because she astounds me. LADY GAGA was the hot topic of the night, taking home a massive 3 gongs. She first took to the stage with another classic 'Gaga' performance, which you can WATCH right here. She appeared very grateful and rather overwhelmed by the awards and she just seemed really genuine as she thanked her support during the three speeches. My respect for this lady is unbelievable, you know. I suppose her music isn't amongst the stuff I listen to on a daily basis, or even have in my iTunes library, but her raw talent and personality attracts me so much, and I feel very inspired by her. Her drive and passion for music is crystal clear from the work and effort she puts into her songs and performances. But I think that her true character is extremely personable and likable, yet shy and sweet. We could see tears in her eyes as she was accepting her prizes, and I very much enjoyed watching her tonight.
