Having just posted new wooden eyewear by Holloway yesterday, Shwood have today released a video introducing a limited run collection with Irish whiskey makers Bushmills and Boston boutique Bodega. The wood material this time comes from genuine white oak Bushmills whiskey barrels, found in the factory in Northern Ireland. Crafted into Canby frames, through the mastered craft by Shwood, these frames look absolutely fly. Literally looks like it's been ripped off a tree. And to really turn it on, it comes packaged in a custom whiskey crate, including a fucking crow bar to open it up. Amazing.

SHWOOD x HUF SUNGLASSES
I first wrote about Shwood back in May when they unveiled their project with Ransom Holding Co. and specifically the Canby frames. Yesterday they announced another collaboration, this time with San Francisco skater brand HUF. Shwood call their concept "Experiment with Nature", using different textiles and combinations in their woodshop, and this time working with HUF they have produced the limited edition Six-Ply Fade. It features a dark to light fade created by the East Indian Rosewood, Walnut, Zebrawood, Cherry, and Maple used in these meticulously crafted frames. Designer Eric Singer uses broken skateboard decks to piece together these gorgeous Canby sunglasses, and boy does it do the trick! This video is the first of a series of short films in which Shwood give us an insight into their "Experiments" and it is a fascinating process so have a look.

SHWOOD x RANSOM CANBY
I've started my search for a new pair of frames and there's obviously a bunch of shapes, materials and brands to choose from. This pair is a collaboration presented by Ransom and wood-sunglass specialists Shwood. With both companies being Canadian, it makes sense that they've chosen to use a unique oak from the outskirts of Toronto. It's handmade too so in terms of quality and authenticity, it looks super. This particular item is on sale now but limited to just 50 pieces, another factor that makes one feel the urge to buy it. I'd have to try them on to see if they suit, but it would certainly look pretty on my desk.
