LACOSTE RENE TWIST FALL/WINTER 2011

The René footwear collection for the Fall/Winter season has been unveiled with five modern twists for the classic 1963 model. This pictured René Brogue in brown leather is the highlight of the bunch, looking very clean and smart. I love the green outsole, the contrast of the laces and the beautifully intricate throat line plus the other overlaps of material, giving the shoe shape some solidity and detail. I'd say the twist works well.

LACOSTE I LOVE TOKYO

These shoes are inspired by Japan's captial, Tokyo, and the upper is designed like a Japanese newspaper collage. I'd love to see what the text reads - I like to believe it hides a relevant message or further information or something.

Anyways, it's a collaboration between the classy modern Lacoste and Rome-based sneaker store McQueen. The Missouri model's red, black and white colours enhance the Tokyo theme and are made to stand out. Released soon they say.

LACOSTE PORCELAIN POLO

Now this is just ridiculous. It's Lacoste's latest collaboration, put together by Chinese porcelain artist Li Xiaofeng, as part of the Holiday 2010 Collector's Series. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone being a porcelain polo shirt collector..

But as a piece of art, I mean wow. This took him 3 months to complete, all moulded, fired, painted and assembled by hand. It's quite an amazing specatcle and it's really unique and striking in terms of how traditional Chinese culture has been combined with a modern-time designer label. I think it's great.

Wouldn't wear it though.
