THE ROYAL WEDDING 2011
Prince William and Kate Middleton today wed before the world, with some more keen than others. I personally quite enjoyed the buzz and hype for this historical day, as I watched the events unfold with a sense of proudness.
Catherine looked amazing, William was balder than I thought, the Queen was cute.
David Beckham's look was too cool. He looked cool with his new current hair, cool in his Ralph Lauren Purple Label tailor-made suit, cool with an OBE medal ha. Though, apparently it was on the wrong side of his jacket. And this Jonathan Ross tweet is fantastic: "Elton John is looking more and more like Churchill the insurance dog every day..."
It was a super fine ceremony and a wedding most people dream of. And with Ellie Goulding at the evening reception! Oh my..
Proud to be British indeed.

HUGH LAURIE DEBUT ALBUM
These are the words I spotted on a big billboard somewhere the other day. I'm only posting it because, well, it's Hugh Laurie. I knew he was musical but I had no idea he was taking it professional.
His debut album "Let Them Talk" comes out next month and he's been playing some preview tracks in various UK media. His first performance was for The Guardian (which you can watch here). Now, I'm no expert in the field of blues music so I'm not going to judge it, but it seems he has mixed reviews. Then again, he is fully aware himself that he's not from Alabama, born in the 1890s, and I think he's just doing what he enjoys, and good for him.

VICTATE SPRING/SUMMER '11
The time has come for me to introduce the next range from Victate, as they gear up to release their Spring/Summer lines. Seems like the brand is adding a new element of sophistication with this upcoming drop, which is something to be super excited about. For a start, they've upgraded the t-shirt quality for a thicker, heavier product.
The tees are always meticulously designed, pen to paper to Mac to print, stroke by stroke, and the Nature patterns don't disappoint with Crocodile and Feather patterns unveiled thus far, the details of which are stunning. They come in simple black and white once again, which worked so well for them last season. I've also been told they've got shirts and bags lined up too! Brand is growing up so fast man, and it just continues to impress and surprise me.
Now, the most significant pieces for SS11, for me, is the floral pocket tee. It'll be released as part of their limited Private Stock range, which is only bad news for those who miss out, because it's a bomb of a tee! Personally, I feel like this embodies the company's progress and smart change of direction. The pockets are hand-crafted using top-of-the-range Liberty prints (which many big names have opted to use this season!) coming in two spring colourways. Massive love for this.
I think the drop comes out next month so don't miss it!
MONSTER BEATS CHROME
Oh my.. Talk about impact.
Colorware have produced 50 units of this super limited edition set of Monster Beats. They use some next patented method of chroming up the product to give this scratch-proof metallic finish. Just can't really imagine having this around your neck on the streets though. At least not for long anyway!
And regarding the Beats itself, I've got a pair of Solo HDs but they're so so overrated and overpriced. I hear the original Beats are indeed better, but I had still expected them to be of top sound quality. Instead, the bass is so huge it doesn't sound like anything, and overall it just lacks any clarity. Also, I used to like its aesthetics but now I find it chunky and cheap. Waste of money really.
But this chrome is fucking ludicrous!

UNIFORM EXPERIMENT MIDS
Lots of people talking about this today - it's the latest collab piece from uniform experiment and Nike Sportswear. Though still a relatively young brand at 3 years old, uniform experiment's two giants at the helm allow for some top collaborative projects with streetwear's biggest names.
Nike have once again teamed up to bring us two All Court Mids in navy uppers, one with a pattern of stars, and the pictured one with the cheeky colour chart block on the heel which I'm liking. They come out in Japan soon.

JAPAN RELIEF : ENTRY SIXTEEN
A nice collaboration piece from Japanese designer Kenzo Minami and ACE Hotel. The designer's words below sum it up really. All proceeds of course go straight to Japan, via the Real Medical Foundation.

NEW CHELSEA HOME KIT 2011/12
The shirt is hooped with two colours of blue, again I'm not sure I like the chosen tones, and the sleeves are white, thus allowing for the iconic adidas stripes to be in blue for the first time on any Chelsea kit - a feature I reckon looks very nice. Though I remain unsure of the new design, it's interesting how they grow on you as you watch them being played in week in week out. Maybe I'll be loving it by next season.
And by the way, what unconvincing celebration poses in the promotion image. Especially Torres, he needs to score soon man.

HESHER THE REAL TRAILER
A proper indie film, as Joseph Gordon-Levitt describes it, Hesher is coming to the big screen in May. This is the real official trailer and it looks really awesome. (500) Days of Summer and Inception were two massive hits for Joe, and he's taking up a whole new character with this one. I love his enthusiasm and his attitude to challenge things. Hesher isn't actually hooked up with a big corporate giant like most films today, but it's totally independently done, which is always much respected. It also stars Natalie Portman, who's been the actress to beat this year, and it's even produced by her. Looks like a super piece right!
JAPAN RELIEF : ENTRY FIFTEEN
Just read that Jack Johnson was actually in the middle of his To The Sea tour in Osaka, Japan as the quake struck on the 11th of last month. Both himself and his team were unharmed.
The charity concert will be on air on radio stations across Japan, as well as live video streams online, so look out for it.

JAPAN RELIEF : ENTRY FOURTEEN
An earthquake of 7.4 magnitude has just struck Sendai, about an hour ago. Areas have been shaking constantly since the deadly one almost four weeks ago, but I think this is just about the strongest one since. Even Tokyo felt some tremous from it. Villages near the epicentre in Sendai have essentially been destructed again, and there are currently fires all around and no electricity. A tsunami warning has been issued for the North-Eastern regions.
Doesn't sound too terrible so far, but it's just another reminder that the events are not only of the past - it is still very much the present.

NIKE AC DUNK VINTAGE SS11
Ah these are nice. I've reposted a few versions of Nike's Dunk Hi model lately, but this AC Vintage collection is one of my favourites. Clean monotonal suede uppers with contrasting white swoosh and laces. I think the toebox is perforated too. Not sure if that's good or bad, but it doesn't over-attract my eyes so. Anyways they look really cool.
JAPAN RELIEF : ENTRY THIRTEEN
I decided to put this up now, because Blaise has just released a little video of how they're living each day, featuring a new song he's been writing since the disaster struck. It's called "take my hand" and it will be out and available soon as a charity download by Blaise Plant.

STUSSY DELUXE x FRED PERRY SS11

These guys began their Blank Canvas collaboration in Spring 2010, and they've returned for the Spring/Summer season this year. They've cleaned up their gear with two tones for a sportswear look, whilst maintaining each of their heritages. It's good. Maybe I preferred the style of the plaid shirt from their previous debut collection, but this is just another path, another take on what these two massive brands can venture on together. I'm excited to see where they take it next.
