CHER LLOYD

UK X Factor finalist Cher Lloyd's first single went on sale today, having given us a couple weeks to absorb her music video and discuss. Rather than share my thoughts on the nursery-rhyme/Swedish House Mafia copy that everyone's been talking about, I'd rather write about her as an artist and what we can expect from her in the future.

I remember watching her audition one night and seeing a good-looking teenage girl perform something that was pretty unique for the show and really showing off her swag, of which I thought she had plenty. And then viewers turned on her in a matter of weeks, from someone who amazed us to someone the UK public totally despised. Can't actually remember why but that's what happened nevertheless. Not too uncommon in this country. Now she's signed to Syco record label with a debut album around the corner.

Personally I liked her voice and especially her presence on stage, and it's easy for us to 'hate' nowadays, but what with the promising producers working with her and the huge collaborations in line, you'd have to be silly to think her album is set to be shit. So I'm going to give it a listen once it's released later this year.

Though having said all that, "Swagger Jagger" is quite bad.
