PAUL SCHOLES ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

One of the decade's most illustrious players to enlighten the Premier League, Paul Scholes, has today announced his retirement as a player immediate effectively. The news comes after playing his final part for Man Utd at Wembley in the defeat against Barcelona last weekend.

He was part of the incredible breed of youth talents emerging from the United's Academy system, along with Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and David Beckham. Having debuted in 1994, he's helped the club achieve its most successful spell in its history, winning 10 league and 2 European titles amongst other domestic honours, and making 676 appearances in the process.

Regarded as the best midfielder of his generation by many, with myself included, his play was intelligent and could seamlessly create goals - a skill that never ceased to amaze me. He will be going straight into a coaching role next season as he looks to pass down his wisdom to the stars of the future. But for sure, he'll be missed on the pitch.
