JAPAN RELIEF : ENTRY SEVEN

I'm starting to see less of Japan in the media lately. Could be good news if the case is that recovery is on the up with nothing more going wrong, or maybe it's bad news where the events in Japan is now already 'in the past' and forgotten.

From what I've heard, it's the radiation concerns from the nuclear plant that is due most of our attention. Food exports are on the agenda with restrictions on shipping and consuming. Hopefully we're not making the Japanese's problem into the Rest of World's problem. But, more help is on hand to help aid the cooling, the power and the fixing at the reactors which is some positive development. And that grandmother and child found in the rubble 9 days after the tsunami? Really nice to hear.

This weekend, I've been trying to organise some charity event with the rest of the coaching team at the football club, but contrasting from our on-campus collections, asking members of the public is heavily restricted with a load of permissions and licensing to arrange. That sadly means a load of telephone numbers. It's proving very long and difficult, but something needs to be sorted out quickly. Our plan ideally is to hit the streets on Saturday with some of the boys to collect donations. Let's get this ball rolling.

As for our work at the university, we'll be offering cupcakes this week. I reckon we're in need of such kinds of motivation if we're to get any more donations, with many people having already done so. Hoping it works.

To anyone else helping the cause I heartily wish you good luck. Let's help these poor people out.
