INCEPTION FIRST LOOK

Sup guys, apologies for the lack of posts this week, I have been rather busy with shit. That includes me watching the oh-so-highly-anticipated movie of the year Inception. I was lucky enough to have been invited to a screening yesterday evening and it was truly mind-blowing.

The film revolves around the concept of 'dream-sharing' and blah blah blah. I'm obviously not going to reveal any plot details here, but I found it really really clever. It has made me question the act of dreaming and just how powerful and real the dream world could be. In terms of special effects, I can't remember experiencing something so engaging and genuine. Christopher Nolan was very determined to use as little green screen as possible, and few stunt men were used, which all added to make this movie so real and believable.

The performances were to the standard, if not higher, than that expected of the top-class cast led by the fantastic Leonardo DiCaprio. (I was especially impressed with one character by the name Tadashi.. he was awesome.) The film was well put together with aspects of thrilling drama, thoughtful sci-fi and simply ridiculous action, as well as the touch of Nolan's wit. I highly enjoyed what I saw. Really.

Having kept myself updated with all the clips and trailers, comments and interviews beforehand, I felt very satisfied halfway through the film as things finally started to click and fall into place. But don't get me wrong - it is far from being a story easy to understand. The movie takes you into so many sub-plots, so many different minds and layers of dreams, that it could be a bit of a handful for the average audience. I wouldn't disagree with one review which suggested that the audience would be 'too dumb'. I most certainly am yet to fully digest what I saw in the 148 minutes, but I am more than excited to go watch it again for me to do so.

It was simply a remarkable spectacle and nothing like what I have seen before. You can watch it from July 16.
